Keanu Reeves & Chad Stahelski share their hopes for John Wick: Chapter 3

Be warned, there are a few minor spoilers for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 below. Although it was released just over a week ago, the second installment of Keanu Reeves' JOHN WICK franchise has received plenty of love both critically and at the box-office, which makes JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 as close to a sure thing as possible, especially when you factor in Keanu Reeves' love for the character. While we await the inevitable greenlight, Keanu Reeves and JOHN WICK 2 director Chad Stahelski recently spoke with Empire about the sequel and where they'd like to see the story go next.

Reeves seemed very excited at the thought of stepping into Wick's shoes once again, suggesting that the third film could pick up right where JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 left off.

I think the opening of the film should be Wick just trying to escape from New York. Literally trying to get off the island. Maybe he asks [Laurence Fishburne's character] the Bowery King for help. Maybe John Leguizamo comes and helps me out. "John, I can't do it, you're excommunicado!" Maybe the High Table shows up. And then the High Table starts firing guns. And then maybe this kind of thing starts to happen between the High Table and Continental? Maybe John is the activator of this confrontation, and perhaps there's a war? Wouldn't that be awesome?!

Chad Stahelski didn't go into quite as much detail as Reeves did, but he did say that he'd like to expand the world of the assassin's even more. "I'd say, if we were so lucky to continue the series, I'd like to expand the world maybe another 25%," said Stahelski. "But then I'd like to go deeper into the world that people already know – another 50%." Not too long before the release of JOHN WICK 2, Reeves had said that he'd like to see the series explore the globe and suggested that they go to Jerusalem to witness John "in the desert, just doing some wacky thing."
