Catherine Keener has joined the cast of the upcoming drama THE SOLOIST. Under ATONEMENT and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE director Joe Wright based on a script by ERIN BROCKOVICH scribe Susannah Grant who based her script on a series of articles by LA Times columnist Steve Lopez, the film centers on a homeless schizophrenic musician named Nathaniel Ayers who accomplished a dream of playing at LA’s Disney Hall. Foxx will play Ayers with Robert Downey Jr. playing Lopez. If Keener’s lucky, she can once again essentially play herself opposite an Oscar winning performance, the impressiveness of which will render her non-performance impressive enough to garner an Oscar nod for herself. Keener can next be seen in the Spike Jonze drama WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, Charlie Kaufman’s directorial debut SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK and in the comedy HAMLET II.
