DONNIE DARKO director Richard Kelly posted on his latest blog news that he’s finally begun prepping his follow-up film THE BOX, all the while editing a new, shorter cut of SOUTHLAND TALES (for those wondering, the cut that was shown at Cannes clocked in at 27 minutes longer than this cut).
Also on the MySpace blog, Kelly mentions that the shoot for THE BOX would begin in March, and to stay tuned for a release date and trailer for SOUTHLAND TALES. Based on a Twilight Zone episode, THE BOX was originally going to have Eli Roth direct, but because of Roth’s schedule, Kelly has assumed the role.
The story centres on a bickering couple that comes into possession of a box that gives money each time it’s button is pressed. The only catch is that a person dies every time they get more money.
