It had been reported a long ass time ago that Eli Roth was slated to be at the helm behind the adaptation of Richard Matheson’s THE BOX. Of course, that was before
So who better to fill Roth’s directing shoes for THE BOX than DONNIE DARKO‘s Richard Kelly? I couldn’t think of anyone better! Our evil step fadda JoBlo was at the Comic Con in San Diego last week, and Kelly was there to officially announce THE BOX as his next directing gig (he’s still working on that piece SOUTHLAND TALES… I hear it needs ‘tweaking’…).
So what’s THE BOX all about? A lesbian romp fest starring Jenna Jameson? I wish. But no, according to IMBD, THE BOX is about “A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a troubled married couple, who open it and become instantly wealthy. Little do they realize that opening the box also kills someone they do not know.” Awesome. Totally awesome!
I for one dig Kelly’s style, so I can’t wait to see what he does with this. Of course, I’m only basing my opinion on DARKO as I haven’t seen TALES yet, but the guy has a visual style that just doesn’t go away like that. Count me in!
