Kevin Pollak set for vampire web series Vamped Out

Are you guys familiar with actor Kevin Pollak? Yes, yes you are. Perhaps not by name but if you glance above and to the right you’ll find Mr. Pollak, who’s been in countless films throughout the years. He’s that guy that always pops up in a flick and you think to yourself ‘I know this guy.’ Yeah, that’s Kevin Pollak. The dude is actually pretty hilarious too, sporting a very dark sense of humor. Thankfully we welcome that with open arms here at AITH!

Recently Pollak has been tackling a web-series called ‘Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show’ and has seen some fair success. It’s because of that success that the actor has decided to try his hand at a horror/comedy web-series! Pollak and Jason Antoon will be teaming with Babelgum.com to bring us VAMPED OUT, a comedic web-series that’ll have Pollak making his directorial debut. The series will span six episodes, with the first one airing April 12th over at Babelgum.com. So what’s the skinny with VAMPED OUT? Check it:

In a world gone crazy with movies, TV shows and books, featuring far too many beautiful vampires, what if you were a real one, who couldn’t get hired to “be” one?

Vamped Out is a weekly series featuring 6 installments from a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Elliot Finke. During the spring and summer of 2009, Elliot shot what he believed was the first documentary of an actual vampire. While in postproduction, he went missing.

The subject of “Vamped Out”, Alowisus Hewson, is a 35 year old struggling actor who lives with his charming girlfriend, Marie, a 33 year old nurse at a local blood bank. We also meet and get to know Al’s manager, 27 year old Billy Goldborg, who lives and works out of Al’s guest house.

Oh, and Alowisus claims to be a 172 year old vampire.

He also insists he spoon-fed an entirely false mythology about vampires to Bram Stoker, a Dublin theater critic at the time. According to Al, because of this misinformation, vampires literally walk among us, fearing not sun light, silver crosses, garlic nor holy water. Sure they need blood to sustain life, but never need to feed from humans or animals. Where they do get it from is one of many comical surprises that make this series what it is, better than ALL the others. Combined. Muuhahahaha!

Pollak will star in the series as ‘Elliot Finke’ alongside Jason Antoon, Samm Levine, Seana Kofoed and Sebastian Roche. Academy Award winner Robert Legato, who’s worked on flicks like TITANTIC, THE AVIATOR, SHUTTER ISLAND and THE DEPARTED, is on board as cinematographer. Here’s a bit of what Pollak had to say regarding VAMPED OUT in the press release:

“The ‘Chat Show’ has really made me aware of how incredible the Web community is to interact and support high-quality and funny content. With ‘Vamped Out’ I wanted to create a series that would truly appeal to fans of comedy no matter what platform. We chose to collaborate with Babelgum because it was a perfect match in terms of smart comedy and allowed us to share our series with an incredible audience of comedy lovers.”

Pollak and Babelgum Comedy are planning a premiere of the series for members of the entertainment industry and Web community on April 9th at Cinespace, Los Angeles. If you won’t be able to attend that, worry not! VAMPED OUT’s first epsiode will air April 12th at Babelgum.com!
