Kevin Smith announces Clerks III is officially on with core cast returning

This month audiences will get to see the return of iconic Kevin Smith characters Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Smith) in JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT, and with that movie on the precipice of release, Smith announced he will return to the CLERKS series with a third and final outing. He made the news official by taking to Instagram for a photo with himself, Mewes and CLERKS star Jeff Anderson, writing how “It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future.”

CLERKS III is a project Smith has been meaning to bring to life for some time, getting as close as having a finished script, getting ready to shoot, but with Anderson not signing on to return for more. But per Smith's post, it seems everything has been patched up between Smth and Anderson, the core cast including Brian O'Halloran is on board, and Smith has chucked out his original screenplay and has begun work on a brand new draft.

No word on when Smith and the team will be getting ready to shoot, but it seems like the writer/director is hard at work on the script and is anxious to get things going. Meanwhile, JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT is gearing up for a release in theaters on October 15 and 17 through Fathom Events, with Smith and Mewes taking the movie on a roadshow tour through the rest of the year and into 2020.
