Kevin Smith confirms Red State start date this August

Oh Kevin Smith. What happened man? The guy has gotten himself into quite the mess as of late huh? It seems all everyone is doing is talking sh*t about the guy. I know Kevin Smith isn’t your typical filmmaker but come on, cut the dude some slack. I’ve always been a huge Kevin Smith fan and will continue to be because I love his body of work. Sure, his early stuff much more than the latter but I’m still a fan dammit!

And it’s with that mentality that I’m still looking forward to RED STATE, the long awaited horror project from Smith. Well if you’re with me on this then the news that RED STATE would film this Summer must have had you excited, right? But when exactly is this bad boy going down? The guys over at The Movie Bit got the scoop from Smith himself:

“… And we’re looking at starting that mid-August. I think it’s August 10th.”

Smith also mentions how he plans to edit the film while he’s cutting it and possibly have it finished for the end of the year. Check out the sound clip below.

So August 10th? At least we’ve got a head on this thing now. Unfortunately no solid details for RED STATE have been made available yet but we do know it’ll be low budget and along the lines of RACE WITH THE DEVIL and DELIVERANCE. Hey, if you’re not a fan of Kevin Smith just stop reading about his projects. If you are a fan, get ready because I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more RED STATE updates soon!
