Kidman’s Invasion

The decade of the double 00s (the one we’re in now) is going to be known for one thing in cinema history: the era of the remakes. More specifically, the era of the horror remakes, as not only has there been a buttload for this year, but plenty more scheduled for next year as well.

Today’s remake announcement: INVASION, as in INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS! Released by Warner Bros., this remake is set to star none other than ex-Mrs. Bob Cruise and all around hot chica Nicole Kidman! Holy smokes! How they nab her?

Production is slated to start this October. The synopsis for this go-round is that it centers on a female lead charactoer (Kidman) who uncovers a conspiracy in a small town where the inhabitants’ personalities seem to be changing.

The more I think about my initial shock of Kidman starring, the more I wonder why I couldn’t believe it- she’s the remake queen! THE STEPFORD WIVES and BEWITCHED come to mind when thinking of recent Kidman projects- why fix what’s not broken? Oh wait… those movies sucked…

Eh, who knows, maybe this version, unlike the other 58 versions of BODY SNATCHERS, will rise above them all. And maybe monkeys will fly out of my butt.
