While the movies have proven to be so-so, one can’t deny the creativeness and overall ‘bravo!’ job of the After Dark Horrorfests marketing department for knowing how to pimp the shite outta their movies, and it looks like this year is no exception!
Check out the new grindhouse-style poster for PERKINS 14, which showed its ugly little head online today. Awesome, eh? Not only is the look and feel of this poster a reminder of the posters for underground horror movies from the 70s, but the tagline… man, that is one awesome tagline!
While kick-ass, the poster doesn’t do much for revealing what PERKINS 14 is all about, so here’s a brief synopsis to shed some light for ya: Robert Perkins builds an army of 14 people brainwashed through cult-like methods to protect him from his parents’ killers. When Perkins is imprisoned, the police unwittingly unleash his followers on a small town and they’ve only got one thing on their mind: “Kill for Mr. Perkins.”
Oh. Ok. Maybe it does sum that up in a nutshell… or maybe it doesn’t. Funny thing is, it totally sounds like a movie from the 70s–at least, that’s what I think of when I think of brainwashing cults (and I’m not just talkin’ religion here!). I think the Manson family and people drinking Kool-Aid. Ah, the 70s…
Anyway, to dig on an even larger version of this f*cking awesome poster, click HERE, and check out PERKINS 14 at this year’s Horrorfest January 9 – 15.
