One flick I can’t help but be intrigued by is Quentin Dupieux’s RUBBER. This thing just looks so goofy and absurd that I can’t imagine it not being awesome, you know what I mean? Hell I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way I do!
And if you do you’ll be happy to hear I’ve got a nice little RUBBER update for you all today. Now it’s nothing to write home about but today we’ve got a look at a 15 second TV spot for the film courtesy of Magnet Releasing. I know what you’re asking yourself – ’15 seconds? That isn’t enough time for anything!’ Oh but it is… Just scroll on down below or head on over to our videos section to check that shite out for yourself!
RUBBER is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to prey on small desert creatures and various discarded objects, his attention soon turns to humans, especially a beautiful and mysterious woman who crosses his path. Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with, and truly a movie villain for the ages. Directed by legendary electro musician Quentin Dupieux (Steak, Nonfilm), aka Mr. Oizo, RUBBER is a smart, funny and wholly original tribute to the cinematic concept of no reason.
RUBBER sports a realtively unknown cast that includes Wings Hauser, Haley Ramm (below), Hayley Holmes, Jack Plotnick, Daniel Quinn, Remy Thorne and Tara Jean O’Brien. It can currently be found On Demand and will be hitting theaters on April 1st.
