Killers of the Flower Moon: Brendan Fraser joins Scorsese thriller

Are we witnessing the dawn of a Brendanssiance? I only ask because Brendan Fraser is making big moves as of late, including landing a starring role in the Martin Scorsese thriller Killers of the Flower Moon, as well as the Legendary comedy Brothers. Fraser will join an already impressive cast for Killers, which includes Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, and more.

Scorsese's new joint is based on the bestselling book of the same name by David Grann. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the story explores a rash of serial murders of members of the Osage Nation. This series of unfortunate events became known as the Reign of Terror, in which several lives were lost. Fraser is believed to be playing a lawyer named WS Hamilton in the film.

As for Brothers, the comedy project hails from Palm Springs director Max Barbakow. Plot details are being kept under wraps, though the project has already entered production in Atlanta. Peter Dinklage (Game of ThronesToxic Avenger), Josh Brolin (The Goonies, No Country for Old Men), and Glenn Close (Fatal AttractionHillbilly Elegy) are already members of the cast. Macon Blair and Etan Cohen wrote the script, which has Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar is producing in addition to Brolin and Dinklage.

Fraser recently wrapped production for Darren Aronofsky's The Whale. Billed as a dramedy of all things, The Whale focuses on a reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption. He also stars alongside Dawn Olivieri and Marcia Cross in Dalibor Stach's upcoming sci-fi-romance Behind the Curtain at Night. In the film, a man comes back to life with the ability to see his past lives.

We'll be sure to update you on the status of Scorsese's next crime thriller as the project continues to come together.
