Killing Gunther trailer shows Arnold Schwarzenegger in full comedy mode

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I love goofy Arnold Schwarzenegger. There’s something about his infectious joy that sometimes works better than the grunting or scowling in most of his action roles. Don’t get me wrong, I love action-Schwarzenegger too, it’s just that I think when he’s allowed to have fun his natural charisma shines through more.

And it seems SNL alumni-turned-director/star Taran Killam has found a good use for goofy-Schwarzenegger in the upcoming action/comedy KILLING GUNTHER. It’s about a group of assassins (including other SNL alumni Bobby Moynihan as an explosives expert) led by a douchey yuppie assassin (played by Killam) who are trying to kill Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger). However, Gunther – like a Road Runner to their Wile E. Coyote – keeps getting away. Looks fun, if you ask me. Now the tone is definitely going to be tricky (it’s hard to have cartoon logic when bullets and death are also par the course), but hopefully Killam is up to the challenge!

Either way, KILLING GUNTHER will start killing later this year.
