If NEW MOON has done anything, it’s solidified the fact that we need some real vampires back on the big screen, and not more sissy vamps who glitter in the daylight.
Which makes me happy to see that there is a new vampire flick on the horizon that’s looking to do just that. Coming at you from Red Giant Films is a KING OF VAMPIRES from director Nick Vallelonga with vampire effects by F/X ninja Todd Masters! Nice!
They sent us a bunch of camera and make-up tests that, so far, look as promising as they get! This is what we know of this flick so far: it stars Ralf Moeller as the bulky vampire (dude from GLADIATOR and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER), who is described by our source as a 250 lb barbarian vampire who lives in the jungle and hacks off heads with swords and spears.
F*ck yeah! Now that’s my kind of vampire! More details on KING OF VAMPIRES reveals this storyline: An heiress enlists mercenaries to search the Cambodian jungle for her long lost brother. The journey down river turns bloody; the jungle is haunted by a savage barbarian warlord, who is rumored to be Lord Of The Undead: King Of Vampires.
The test shots look amazing, and since Masters is one of the heavy hitters in the F/X world, I’m sure this film is gonna look like all kinds of awesome. Plus, Moeller is one big and scary motherf*cker–perfect for playing the Lord of the Undead, don’t ya think?
