King’s Cadillac

Fangoria had a chance to talk with the writer/director of the upcoming SNOOP DOGG’S HOOD OF HORROR, Stacy Title, about the recent fall-out of another project she had been working on- Stephen King’s DOLAN’S CADILLAC.

One of the many engaging stories in King’s NIGHTMARES AND DREAMSCAPES anthology, CADILLAC told the story of one man’s revenge against the mob in Las Vegas. Title had the rights to the flick for the last four years…and within the last six months, King took the rights back.

But why? Not only was Title writing drafts of the script, as well as having producers Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner on board with the project, but there was A LOT of interest from big celebrities who all wanted a piece of it. Here’s what Title said about that: “First, Sylvester Stallone was supposed to do it, then Cuba Gooding Jr., then Val Kilmer, then Freddie Prinze Jr. and then Gabriel Byrne. A lot of people were interested in doing this picture.”

Hard to understand why the fall-out, but judging from the fact that it stood on the shelf for four years probably didn’t help matters, or the fact that Title put a horror flick starring Snoop Doggy Dogg before trying to bring King’s story to the big screen. At this point, who knows…

Maybe TNT wanted that story in their mini-series of NIGHTMARES AND DREAMSCAPES, or maybe King didn’t want another fine piece of work turned into another fine piece of shit on the silver screen.
