Knives Out 2: Edward Norton joins the cast of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery

It's been announced that Edward Norton (Fight Club, American History X, Death to Smoochy) wants to take a stab at starring in Knives Out 2. The sequel finds Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc returning to solve another mystery revolving around a large cast of suspicious characters. Rian Johnson will once again write and direct the murder mystery feature, which has Ram Bergman producing.

The sequel, which also cast Dave Bautista in a lead role earlier this week, was recently sold to Netflix for $400 million. Per the deal, Netflix will also stream the next installment of the series, rounding out a trilogy for Johnson's slick tale of sleuthing. Production for Knives Out 2 is expected to begin this summer in Greece, with Norton's role being unknown at this time. Johnson must have presented one hell of a script though, as Norton is notoriously picky about signing onto any film.

Released in 2019, Knives Out featured Craig's Benoit Blanc investigating the death of a patriarch of an eccentric, combative family. Making up the cast of Johnson's critically-acclaimed whodunit are Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKetih Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Frank Oz, and K Callan.

Knives Out is hands down one of my favorite films of recent years. The character chemistry is second-to-none, and the reverse whodunit structure of the story is inspiring. The film carries a Wes Anderson-like aesthetic and features some of the brightest stars in the industry today. If you've yet to see it for yourself, I suggest that you do.
