Deadline has an exclusive look at the crime-thriller Kockroach. The picture features stars Chris Hemsworth and Taron Edgerton in period film attire, with overcoats and hats, walking away from a classic car. Hemsworth and Edgerton are joined in the cast by Rachel Sennott, Zazie Beetz, Alec Baldwin and Brian Geraghty. Hemsworth and Edgerton took over the main roles from the previously attached stars, Channing Tatum and Oscar Issac. Producer Andrew Lazar has described the project as similar to Goodfellas and Scarface.

The production on the film recently wrapped filming in Australia and Hemsworth commemorated wrapping with a social media post, which shows off more of the movie with behind-the-scenes photos. The post read, “That’s a wrap on our film Kockroach. Quite possibly the most fun I’ve had on a set. Amazing cast and crew and one hell of a wild script! Can’t wait for you to see it !!” You can check out his post with more pictures of the cast and crew below.
Kockroach, based on the William Lasher novel, is the story of a mysterious stranger who takes on New York’s criminal underworld, transforming himself into a larger-than-life crime boss in a city where power is everything. Ross directs Kockroach from a screenplay by Jonathan Ames (You Were Never Really Here) with revisions by Ross. Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Christina Weiss Lurie (Persuasion) produce, with John Friedberg (Black Bear) and Vanessa Humphrey (Mad Chance) serving as executive producers.
Months ago, producer Andrew Lazar made a statement on welcoming Edgerton to the film, taking over for Oscar Issac. In a statement, Lazar said, “I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Taron to Kockroach and to see him team up with [the formerly attached] Channing and Zazie in this fresh and bold take on the gangster genre. Under the extraordinary talent of director Matt Ross, Kockroach will push boundaries and expectations in the same ways as such seminal films as Scarface and Goodfellas. I’m also thrilled to see our incredible creative team coming together. Academy Award-winning production designer Colin Gibson, DP Adam Arkapaw, and VFX Supervisor Jonathan Dearing.“
