Kong: Skull Island anime coming from Netflix, Legendary, and Brian Duffield

Brian Duffield has worked on some cool genre projects over the last few years, scripting The Babysitter, Spontaneous, and the creature features Underwater and Love and Monsters. For his next project, he'll be working with one of the most iconic creature feature stars of all time, as he's set to write and executive produce the Kong anime Skull Island for Legendary Entertainment and the Netflix streaming service.

Skull Island is said to be "a new epic chapter in Legendary's Monsterverse franchise". In addition to the film Kong: Skull Island (watch it HERE), the Monsterverse also includes 2014's Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong.

The Skull Island anime will center on

shipwrecked characters desperate to survive the most dangerous place on Earth, the island that is home to colossal monsters, including the iconic "megaprimatus" Kong.

Jacob Robinson of the production company Tractor Pants will be executive producing the show alongside Duffield. The animation will be handled by Powerhouse Animation, the studio behind Netflix's Castlevania anime series.

This project is separate from Netflix's previous animated Kong show, Kong: King of the Apes, which ran for two seasons on the streaming service.

I watch everything Kong-related, including the various cartoons that have featured the character before, so I'm looking forward to seeing this anime that's set within the Monsterverse.
