However, his new project has some potential, since intriguing people are involved, and the possibility that Ashton will get his ass handed to him by Samuel L. Jackson seems very real. Kutcher is in talks to be directed by Neil “I have women issues” LaBute and star alongside Sam the Man and hottie Kerry Washington in Screen Gems’ thriller LAKEVIEW TERRACE. Sam will portray an LAPD officer who is determined to oust the interracial couple (Kutcher and Washington) living next door.
The screenplay was written by David Loughery (PASSENGER 57), but I don’t doubt that LaBute will put his own unique stamp on it. Remember how “unique” THE WICKER MAN was? But before that nightmare, LaBute made a couple of really terrific character-pieces, IN THE COMPANY OF MEN and YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, so dont write him off yet.
