After Dark has added Joel Anderson’s LAKE MUNGO to its fourth year line-up of the nationwide horror festival, After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For, joining the previously announced THE GRAVES and Clive Barker’s DREAD.
The last time we heard about LAKE MUNGO was that it was getting ready to be remade (check out that madness HERE), or at least a script was being hammered out for the film’s eventual remake. Which is ridiculous, but all the more reason to check out LAKE MUNGO in theaters with the rest of the Horrorfest films, which runs from January 29nd – February 5th.
As a recap, LAKE MUNGO goes a little something like this: In Lake Mungo, sixteen-year-old Alice Palmer drowns while swimming in the local dam. When her body is recovered and a verdict of accidental death returned, her grieving family buries her. The family then experiences a series of strange and inexplicable events centered in and around their home. Profoundly unsettled, the Palmers seek the help of psychic and parapsychologist, Ray Kemeny. Ray discovers that Alice led a secret, double life. A series of clues lead the family to Lake Mungo where Alice’s secret past emerges.
Sounds promising–I just hope it’s one of the Horrofest’s better films, and not their usual glossy-but-crappy film entries. Only time will tell, but since it’s being remade, I’m gonna guess it’s pretty damn good.
