This sounds like a pipedream, but one worthy of our support: Collider has it on good authority that John Landis – yes, he of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON fame – went to Universal today to talk about a certain wolf-related project currently searching for a director. Now the site doesn’t make it clear if he was asked there, or if he took it upon himself to throw his hat into the ring… At this point, I’ll have a meeting set up to helm the f*cking thing. (Check out who else has a shot.)
Landis of course was at one time a giant in the comedy world, known primarily for directing blockbusters like ANIMAL HOUSE and THE BLUES BROTHERS. But he certainly holds a very special place in genre fans’ hearts for his bloody modern classic about an unlucky bloke who howls at the moon every month or so…
Landis seems an unlikely choice, considering he isn’t much of a “name” nowadays compared to the others being bandied about, such as Brett Ratner (unfortunate I know, but this is the world we currently live in). But hell, I think his name over the others would inspire the most glee and anticipation across the ‘net. Then again, genre-fans would take Dr. Phil or an English Muffin over Ratner… We’ll probably know for certain who’s taking the reins by next week, if not sooner.
