While this is just as ridiculous as remaking THE FOG, there is one saving grace: Craven and Sean S. Cunningham (along with Marianne Maddalena) are on board to produce the project. And as they were the ones who made the original, let’s hope that means this remake is in good hands.
Of course, then I remember that John Carpenter was involved with THE FOG remake, and that movie f*cking sucked! The good news is, and I’m making a guess here, that they’ll find it plenty hard to make this PG-13, if nothing else that the subject matter alone is pretty f*cked up. I don’t see how they could tame down kidnapping, gang raping and murdering teenage girls- let alone playing out the revenge plot by the parents. Yeah. Not really PG-13 material… or at least we hope it’s not!
No reports on who’ll direct, write the script or star, only that they’re hoping to begin filming early 2007, which means one thing: hello Halloween release date! I don’t know why I’m so bummed about this, but damnit, I am! No more remakes! I’ve had enough!
Oh, but it gets better. Variety also reports that Craven is in talks to remake SHOCKER and PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS as well. Noooooooo! Wes! Dude, why? Why?????
