Last Voyage of Nispel

According to Variety, FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009) director Marcus Nispel has signed on to director THE LONGEST TITLE EVER for Phoenix Pictures.

Actually, I’m a flippin’ liar. It’s not really called that at all. The new flick is called THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, and it goes a little something like this: based on a chapter in Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, DEMETER describes the arrival of the vampire count in England on a cargo ship that has crashed into the rocks at Whitby with no crew and the dead captain lashed to the steering wheel. Stoker originally told the story via the captain’s log of the voyage, which begins in Bulgaria and becomes increasingly disjointed as members of the crew disappear.

Sounds like a boat filled mind-f*ck madness movie to me! If nothing else, Nispel will be able to provide a slick and kick-ass looking movie with (no doubt) a buttload of blood and gore, even if it doesn’t necessarily seem like there would be in a movie like that… he’ll find a way! Ain’t nothing wrong with that!

While I didn’t care for FRIDAY, I’m still a fan of Nispel’s TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and maybe without Nispel tied to Platinum Dunes, he’ll actually improve as a filmmaker with this one. I have faith, yo!

Stick around for more on THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER as we hear it!
