Latest Alien: Covenant image features Katherine Waterston ready for action

Several mysterious new images from Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT have already been released today, and the folks at Entertainment Weekly have got their hands on a new one. Katherine Waterston (FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM) is set to play Daniels in the upcoming film, a crew-member of the colony ship Covenant who will unfortunately come face to face with those pesky xenomorphs. When she does, it seems that she'll be ready for some action.

Channeling a little Ellen Ripley there, I like it. The buzz surrounding ALIEN: COVENANT has been fairly positive so far, in fact, our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey recently called what he's seen of the film "intense, bloody, spooky and intriguing." He also feels that this sequel will give people more of what they wanted out of PROMETHEUS. I suppose the rest of us will have to wait for the ALIEN: COVENANT teaser to drop in order to properly judge.

The official synopsis for ALIEN: COVENANT:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

ALIEN: COVENANT is set for a May 19, 2017 release.
