Latest promo asks, “What if The X-Files is a lie?”

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The hype machine keeps chugging along for the 6-episode event revival of the 1993 to 2002 television series The X-Files, and the latest promo to be released has David Duchovny's FBI agent Fox Mulder pondering if the work he's done over many seasons of TV and a couple feature films has all been a lie.

This promo also seems to give glimpses of a couple of the cases that Mulder and his partner Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) will be investigating in these new episodes, including shots of a man with something gross going on with his face and a deformed little girl giving a menacing look.

Whatever conclusion Mulder reaches, the return of The X-Files is definitely not a lie. The revival's premiere will air on Fox on Sunday, January 24, 2016. The rest of the episodes will be shown over the following five Mondays.

Duchovny and Anderson are joined in the cast by William B. Davis, Mitch Pileggi, Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby, and Kumail Nanjiani.
