Leatherface casts Vanessa Grasse as female lead

The cast continues to grow for LEATHERFACE now that The Wrap is reporting newcomer Vanessa Grasse has landed the female lead in Millennium Films’ prequel to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Grasse will play Lizzy, a young nurse at a mental hospital who’s kidnapped by a group of violent teenagers and taken on a road trip from hell. That sounds just wonderful.

According to the site, Grasse won the role following an intense casting process in which the producers auditioned more than 90 young actresses in both the U.S. and overseas. They chose Grasse because of her naturalistic acting and innocence. This news comes in on the heels of the recent casting of THE CONJURING's Lili Taylor.

French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo will direct from a script by Seth M. Sherwood.

In this prequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a young nurse is kidnapped by a group of violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.

The film also stars Stephen Dorff, Sam Strike, James Bloor, and Angela Bettis. Catch up on all of our LEATHERFACE coverage right HERE!
