Lee Cut from Todd

Playbill, of all places, scored some news on the upcoming Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp collaboration, SWEENEY TODD this morning, as it looks like horror living legend Christopher Lee has been cut from the film altogether. Nothing worse than being cast in a flick, only to be cut before filming even starts… actually, I guess it’d be worse to be cut after you’ve already filmed your scenes. Basically, it sucks for Lee, but what can you do, right?

It would have been worse if I had done the scenes, but I never got to film them. It’s a shame as the lyrics were wonderful, but these things happen.

At least the guy’s not too upset over the whole thing. Lee was to play a newly introduced character to the film called “Gentleman Ghost”, a character that is not in the original play- so I suppose for purists of the musical, it’s actually a good thing that Lee was cut out, as it must mean they’re sticking to the original material more than not, which is good… I guess.
