Legendary Pictures and Guillermo del Toro start horror YouTube contest

In case you didn’t think Guillermo del Toro wasn’t busy enough in post-production for his “gothic romance” CRIMSON PEAK, the man will also be gearing up to go into pre-production on PACIFIC RIM 2 but not before helping out the fellow filmmaker in a little horror film contest being sponsored by Legendary Pictures and YouTube.

You can check out all of the information here, but it looks like YouTube users with a ton of subscribers (10,000+) who are members of the YouTube Partner Program will get to take advantage of del Toro-themed sets built in YouTube Spaces, which currently reside in Los Angeles, London and Tokyo, as well as free use of camera and editing equipment (the scales are certainly tipped in someone’s favor there). I’m all for promotion of what low-budget filmmakers can pull out, so here’s hoping they find some real talent.
