Scott Stewart’s LEGION just hit theaters and is getting a pretty split opinion. Actually most of the stuff I’ve seen in regards to LEGION was that the film is alright… but nowhere near the potential it had. Shame. Hell I say if you were looking forward to this one still give it a shot… I mean Dennis Quaid.. Old Lady… Shotgun. Love it.
But I’m not here to talk about LEGION. Oh no I want to talk about Stewart’s other religious action flick starring Paul Bettany PRIEST. The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog caught up with Stewart recently at the LEGION premiere afterparty. Apparently being asked about PRIEST excited the director and prompted him state that it’s finished and to talk a bit about the flick:
“I didn’t feel like I had a lot to add to the vampire lore when I first read “Priest.” I really liked the script, but one thing I didn’t want to do was a sexy vampire movie. “True Blood” is doing that. And my vampires aren’t going to sparkle in the daylight. What I ended up making instead is a movie about war and the aftermath of war and the sacrifices we go through.”
Stewart also talks a bit about star Paul Bettany, the religious trend hitting Hollywood, the vampires in PRIEST and what we’re all looking for in life. If you’re interested you should definitely read that shite right over HERE!
Along with Bettany the film also stars Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q (below), Karl Urban, Lily Collins, Stephen Moyer, Mädchen Amick, Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif. It follows a priest who disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece and is due to hit theaters August 20th.
