Lena Headey to star in Clive Barker’s Jacqueline Ess

Variety got the scoop out of Cannes that “Game of Thrones” actress Lena Headey (pictured) will star in the movie adaptation of horror icon Clive Barker’s JACQUELINE ESS. Jovanka Vuckovic will make her feature debut. Her credits include the short film THE CAPTURED BIRD from exec producer Guillermo del Toro, and the all-female horror anthology XX.

JACQUELINE ESS is the story of a woman who, in her thirst for change, achieves the ability to transform people’s bodies at will. It originally appeared in Barker’s “Books of Blood” anthologies, which also included the stories that were basis for the horror films LORD OF ILLUSIONS and CANDYMAN.

“Lena Headey is a marvelous performer with an incredible presence,” Clive Barker said. “As far as I’m concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day.” Barker and Headey make for one hell of a team and JACQUELINE ESS sounds exactly like the kind of film that Headey will be fantastic in, so I'd say that this one is off to a great start.

Producing duties will go to Raven Banner Entertaintment and Barker’s Seraphim Films as Raven Banner will be selling the film, set to go into production late this year, at Cannes.
