After comparing their screener from last year, and the recently released DVD, they discovered the subtitles to the new DVD are slightly off from the original subtitling, dumbing the language down, and stripping the dialog of any sarcasm or wit that it had in the first place.
According to THIS COMPARISON between the two versions, the general gist of what’s going on is the same, but let’s face it.. it’s way over simplified–and for what? Why the re-subtitle, anyway? Seems like a lot of work when the subtitles were already done for the film’s theatrical release.
But don’t take my word for it, head THIS WAY and see for yourself. Will this stop me from seeing LET THE RIGHT ONE IN on DVD? Probably not… but it does make me a bit sad I wasn’t able to check it out in theaters for the experience it was meant to be.
