Levan Gabriadze’s Cybernatural picked up by Universal

Levan Gabriadze’s on-line-set horror feature CYBERNATURAL hit the ground running this past summer with its premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival where it was met with some solid reviews (read ours here), and now it’s headed for a release in 2015. Per Variety, Universal Pictures has set an April 10th release date. Much like Nacho Vigalondo's OPEN WINDOWS, this one plays out entirely through the dim light of a computer screen. Is this format going to be the next big thing in horror? I'd share my thoughts but then I'd have to kill you, so there's that.

The film was produced by Timur Bekmambetov and it goes like this:

While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who killed herself exactly one year ago. At first they think it’s a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends’ darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something from beyong this world, something that wants them dead. Told entirely from a young girl’s computer desktop, CYBERNATURAL redefines “found footage” for a new generation of teens.

CYBERNATURAL stars Shelley Hennig, Moses Storm, Renee Olstead, Will Peltz, Jacob Wysocki, Courtney Halverson, and Heather Sossaman.
