Lionsgate buys Peter Gaffney’s sci-fi spec script Terrestrial

Lionsgate has scooped up the science fiction script TERRESTRIAL, written by first-time writer Peter Gaffney, with THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE's Tripp Vinson onboard to produce, according to The Wrap.

Vinson was one of a handful of top producers given an early peak at the script, and those producers then shopped it to Hollywood studios. The script first surfaced in Adam Rodin's annual trackingb.com feature contest, and Rodin, who will executive produce, developed the project with Gaffney and Energy Entertainment's Brooklyn Weaver.

Over on trackingb.com we came across the following synopsis for TERRESTRIAL:

Over the Mojave Desert, an alien ship the size of the Chrysler building falls from the sky. Exhibiting no signs of life or communication, a team of brave, possibly insane, individuals must venture inside on a mission that could be mankind's greatest discovery – or gruesome death. What they will find is a power beyond their understanding, wonderous and extremely dangerous, one that will change them forever.

Sounds intriguing enough! Hopefully we'll hear word of this project moving forward in the near future. As always, we'll keep you informed of the film's progress as we hear it.

TERRESTRIAL producer Tripp Vinson also produced THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE
