We all know it’s inevitable, but just how soon might we see Jigsaw, Hoffman and their bevy of traps return for another SAW go-round?
Lionsgate Vice President Michael Burns, speaking on CNBC about the studio’s financial outlook and the state of its franchises, dropped the following minor tidbit: “I’m sure, some day, you’ll see Saw back in the picture.”
Of course, this is hardly a breathtaking piece of news; it’s neither a surprise to think that the series might be resurrected, nor is it a definite because of what Burns has blurted out.
The conclusion of SAW: THE FINAL CHAPTER certainly left the door open for a follow-up, but at this stage, I think some kind of reboot (yes, that dreaded word) is in order. They’ve most likely gone as far as possible with the overly-complicated yarn spun in the first seven movies, perhaps it’s time to try something fresh. (Well, as “fresh” as another SAW movie can be…)
