Lisey’s Story TV Interviews: Dane DeHaan, Joan Allen, and Ron Cephas Jones

Stephen King is a writer of many types of stories but few are as personal as Lisey's Story. Penned after his horrific accident that almost claimed his life, Lisey's Story is a haunting tale of grief, marriage, and obsession told using a supernatural element that only King could have come up with. The eight-episode limited series debuts this week on AppleTV+ and I had the privilege of interviewing three of the cast members in Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones, and Joan Allen.

Ron Cephas Jones was the first person I spoke with. In Lisey's Story, he plays Professor Dashmiel whose actions lead to the clash at the center of the series. Jones is a solid character actor who has appeared in everything from Marvel's Luke Cage and USA's Mr. Robot to Netflix's The Get Down as well as NBC's hit series This Is Us. We talked about how he got involved with Lisey's Story and his familiarity with the work of Stephen King.

Joan Allen requires no introduction. The Oscar-nominated actress from such films as the Bourne franchise as well as Pleasantville, Manhunter, Nixon, and more was a pleasure to talk to. We discussed what it was like working on a Stephen King story as well as what it meant to be in a series of this caliber with two other talent actresses in Jennifer Jason Leigh and Julianne Moore.

Next up was Dane DeHaan. No stranger to playing villains thanks to his memorable roles in Chronicle and The Amazing Spider-man 2, DeHaan channeled a very different type of bad guy in order to play Jim Dooley in this series. We talked about his recent turn in Quibi's The Stranger as well as comparisons between this obsessive fan and King's Annie Wilkes from Misery.

Lisey's Story premieres June 4th on AppleTV+.
