Listen to excerpts from Danny Elfman’s Wolfman score now!

One of the many subplots in the drama that has been THE WOLFMAN‘s fight to the big screen has been the film’s soundtrack. It’s been an off-again, on-again relationship between the flick and Danny Elfman, whose score is being used even though he was briefly replaced by Paul Haslinger last fall. It’s been a strange trip thus far, but at least we’re so close now that we can smell the beast’s breath.

Universal’s soundtrack division, Varèse Sarabande, has released a few tracks from the WOLFMAN score. While brief (only snippets of four tracks), you get a taste of what Elfman has up his sleeve for the doomed pup. I must say I hear more than a little of Wojciech Kilar’s BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA in the first and fourth tracks, although naturally there are plenty of furious strings and horns that bring to mind Elfman’s M.O. (Although thankfully it doesn’t just sound like Elfman in “Tim Burton mode”, which happens a little too often.)

Listen to the excerpts over at Varèse Sarabande. (And props to ShockTillYouDrop for getting the scoop.)
