Alright, here we have a little something different as opposed to the gruesome gorefests I’ve gotten so used to writing about — a psycho sexual thriller! That’s right, I said sexual! I also said psycho and thriller, but be honest, which word got your attention the most? Oh, yeah, it’s also a foreign flick from Belgium. Anyways, this hot little screamer has one tensely tight plot. It’s called LOFT and here’s how it goes:
Five married men share a secret: a spacious loft, in which they can quietly receive and entertain their lovers and latest conquests. It’s a great deal until, one winter morning, they discover the body of a young woman. No one knows who she is or how she got there. When the five try to find out what happened and why, they soon begin to suspect one another. It also becomes clear that they know far less about each other than they initially thought.
Now that sounds like one potentially strong thriller. I’ve always been fond of scary flicks that weave around a good mystery… and a healthy helping of sexual activity always helps as well. LOFT was directed by Erik Van Looy who apparently made a big splash with his breakthrough film, THE MEMORY OF A KILLER. The script is by Bart De Pauw. The cast is composed of Koen De Bouw, Filip Peeters, Matthias Schoenaerts, Bruno Vanden Broucke, Koen De Graeve, Veerle Baetens, Tine Reymer , An Miller, and Maaike Cafmeyer (below).
