Justin Long doesn’t get enough props. He’s done a lot of funny shit (this for example), but hasn’t quite had that breakout role (THE SASQUATCH DUMPLING GANG: nope). Also, if the tabloids are any indication he is pretty much fused to Drew Barrymore’s side at this point, since every time I see a picture of him, he’s macking on her someplace. Today he has signed up to (presumably) mack on Alison Lohman, as he will be playing her boyfriend in Sam Raimi’s DRAG ME TO HELL. The film, about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse, was written by the Raimi brothers Sam and Ivan, with Sam to direct. Long was last seen in STRANGE WILDERNESS, and will next be seen macking on at least one chick in HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU.
For better or worse, I’m glad to see Raimi not making SPIDERMAN films anymore – not because I hated them or anything, but because I love seeing what other shit he can come up with. Plus, I want him to be contractually available when in twenty years someone wants to remake NORBIT with Bruce Campbell playing every role.
