Now that he’s no longer responsible for inking illegible TV drama, “Lost” scribe Damon Lindelof may be facing off with aliens!
Word out of Deadline today has it that Lindelof (seen right) is close to a signing a deal that would bring him onboard 20th Century Fox’s ALIEN prequel to do rewrites. Actually, when Lindelof met with potential director Ridley Scott (who you should know also directed the 1979 original) to talk about rewrite duties, an idea exchange between the two led to a potentially different sci-fi project altogether. Word is Fox will make a decision regarding that script when Lindelof concludes it.
Lindelof, who’s currently working on the STAR TREK sequel for J.J. Abrams and COWBOYS & ALIENS for Jon Favreau, is said to give Jon Spaihts’ ALIEN script a makeover. However, since it was Spaihts’ script that drew directorial interest from Ridley (instead of just producing), Lindelof may not want to stray too far. Maybe’ll he add just enough to get Ridley to commit for good!
But what do you all think? Is Lindelof a proven enough name to get excited about this hire? Or do you not care who writes just so long as Ridley Scott directs?
Slit an artery and let it pour, yo!
