Louis C.K. is taking an extended break from his series Louie; no return date

The fifth season of Louie concluded a couple of months ago and there is no set return for new episodes of the series. Louis C.K. has garnered massive critical acclaim for the comedy series which he writes, directs, and edits every episode of.

FX CEO John Landgraf revealed the hiatus while also revealing that Louis C.K. will use the break to continue development on two series for FX: Better Things starring Pamela Adlon and Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis. He is also beginning work on his first feature film directing gig in fourteen years (his last film was POOTIE TANG). Landgraf says the break could be as short as six months or as long as several years but will give C.K. as much time as he needs and hopes the series lasts twenty years.

Louis C.K. has become one of the most popular stand-up comedians working today and his unique cinematic approach to making his sitcom has elevated it from being just a funny show to one of the most original and distinct series on television.
