Lowell Dean’s Wolfcop howls for a sequel

To be honest, I didn't quite know what to make of director Lowell Dean's WOLFCOP when I first heard about it. It wasn't until we brought you the awesome poster and latest crazy trailer for the flick that I was sold on wanting to check it out. Last month we learned that Raven Banner had scooped up world rights to the flick, which is set to hit Canadian theaters on June 6. Now we've learned that a sequel to WOLFCOP is already being planned.

Deadline reports that Canadian indie producer CineCoup has greenlit a follow-up to WOLFCOP ahead of the first film’s theatrical bow on June 6 after what it says has been “unanimous positive” reactions from buyers. Hey, it's a catchy idea! The sequel will begin production this fall.

WOLFCOP is currently being screened for buyers at the Cannes Film Festival and the reception for the film has been positive enough for CinceCoup to move ahead with a sequel.  Since the first film isn’t out yet, there aren’t any details available about the sequel except that it’ll be “dirtier and hairier than the first” according to CineCoup President Brad Pelman.

As for the original film, here's what we can expect:

It’s not unusual for alcoholic cop Lou Garou to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings, but lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar… Lou's senses are heightened… and when the full moon is out, he's a rage-fueled werewolf. WOLFCOP is one cop's quest to become a better man… one transformation at a time.

If you're waiting to check out WOLFCOP outside of Canada, Raven Banner has shared that some deals will be announced soon, so hopefully the wait won't be too long.
