One flick I could never see the fascination for was the Wes Craven produced DRACULA 2000, directed by Patrick Lussier and starring a then-unknown Gerard Butler as Dracula. I saw that flick in the theater, and walked out feeling like I just wasted 90 minutes of my life.
But maybe it deserves a second chance? It spawned 2 STD sequels that I’ve heard weren’t half bad… then again, I hated the first one, so I’d probably hate the sequels too. Shit, I should really watch that f*cker again…
Anyway, Moviehole caught up with Lussier and asked him point-blank, will there be another D2K movie released, theatrically or otherwise? And here’s what Lussier had to say: Doubtful there would be another Drac Pack movie because it got lost in the rights shuffle of the Dimension/Disney bust up. Joel Soisson and I originally wanted to continue the adventures of Uffizi… and before that, had even discussed a theatrical sequel to D2K but none of those came to pass, I’m afraid.
Shitty news for you D2K fans out there, but as I always say when talking about projects that have the potential to make money: never say never. It could happen. Keep hope alive. Lussier then goes into his plans for the fourth installment, if it were to come to light.
But I won’t spoil it for you. Head THIS WAY to check out his thoughts, and stick around you D2K fans… there may be a sequel out there for you yet. Not likely, but you never know!
