Here’s some pretty interesting news regarding the upcoming UNDERWORLD prequel RISE OF THE LYCANS (which hits theaters January 23rd). I guess this could be considered somewhat a SPOILER, so there’s your warning. Ready to read on? Okay.
Apparently, word has gotten out that we may be getting a glimpse of the sexy Selene, played once again by the even sexier Kate Beckinsale, in RISE OF THE LYCANS. That’s right! Remember all those initial reports way back that Ms. Kate would not be involved with the prequel? Well, to hell with that! Bring on the “Beckins”! Now before your fanboy “fang” grows too large, let me just clarify precisely how Selene is being brought back:
RISE OF THE LYCANS will open and close with Selene (as played by Kate Beckinsale). However, this is not new footage, but a scene from Len Wiseman’s original 2003 UNDERWORLD that will be used to bookend the film.
So it is just old footage, however it’s footage we’ve never seen before, so I guess we can consider it new. I hope that’s not confusing. Regardless, we’re getting some more Beckinsale in UNDERWORLD. Now that’s something to sink your teeth into… and howl about.
