M. Night Shyamalan wants in on Stranger Things S2

Coming off a weekend of redemption, with his new "awesome surprise ending" flick SPLIT scoring 40+ million, M. Night Shyamalan is setting his sights high and looking to direct STRANGER THINGS season 2.

This actually makes a lot of sense. If you remember, The Duffer brothers, before creating last summer's hit STRANGER THINGS for NetFlix, wrote for WAYWARD PINES which was executive produced by Shyamalan, who also took on directing duties for the pilot. Now it seems Shyamalan wants the brothers Duffer to repay the favour.

Shyamalan told Digital Spy:

My boys who do Stranger Things, they did Wayward Pines for me. They were round my house and I was like, 'Well, you can hire me back guys!'"

I for one hope Shyamalan's "boys" take him up on the offer, as STRANGER THINGS seems like a perfect vehicle for Shyamlan's (newly re-found) talents. Don't agree with me for some reason? That's fine. Just remember that a handful of STRANGER THINGS season 1 episodes were directed by Shawn Levy (Cheaper by the Dozen, Night at the Museum). If he could still knock it out of the park, I have no doubt Shyamalan will knock us all upside down (waka, waka).

Even if Shyamalan doesn't end up directing any episodes of STRANGER THINGS S2, we can still look forward to his talents on the small screen, as his TNT revival of TALES FROM THE CRYPT is still on the horizon. And that is something to celebrate. I hope.
