The 2010 Venice Film Festival continues its impressive string of world premiere openers, as Screen Daily is now reporting that Robert Rodriguez’s exploitation send-up MACHETE will be the first midnight showing at the gala. Pretty cool shite!
Beginning September 1st (with the fest ending on the 11th) MACHETE joins BLACK SWAN as high profile projects from esteemed directors to make its world debut on the opening day of the fest. Just another reason why the Venice Film Fest, along with Toronto, are among the very best!
For those with Leonard Shelby disease, The highly skilled Federale MACHETE is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!
