Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard to star in The Turning

I can't say I'm all that thrilled by the idea of getting yet another adaptation of the Henry James novella The Turn of the Screw. That story has been told many, many times, and if I want to see a film based on it I'll just put on 1961's THE INNOCENTS. With that said, I will admit that I do find this new adaptation called THE TURNING to be somewhat intriguing simply because of the company making it and the people involved with it.

THE TURNING is being made by Amblin, with Scott Bernstein and Roy Lee producing. Veteran music video director Floria Sigismondi, who made her feature directorial debut with the music biopic THE RUNAWAYS, is at the helm, and now an interesting cast is being assembled.

Mackenzie Davis of Halt and Catch Fire, the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror, and BLADE RUNNER 2049 is set to star in the film, which will show what happens when

a young woman hired as the nanny to two orphans is convinced that the country mansion they live in is haunted.

Davis is being joined in the cast by Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things and IT

THE CONJURING's Chad and Carey Hayes wrote the initial script for this project, and Jade Bartlett is currently writing a new draft.

THE TURNING is expected to start filming sometime in the first quarter of 2018. I don't really need to see another version of The Turn of the Screw, but I'm curious to see how this one will turn out.
