MAGDELENA is a movie that really hasn’t been on my radar at all, but it should be, considering it’s being directed by MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN helmer Ryûhei Kitamura, and stars uber-hottie Jenna Dewan (pictured below). The film, based on the Top Cow comic series, is about a direct descendant of Mary Magdalene who protects the world against evil using a variety of supernatural powers .
MTV sat down with the film’s screenwriter, Holly Brix (writer of the immortal BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3), and discussed where the project stands at the moment: Obviously, I read all the comics and we talked about different versions of the story, but the one I found most compelling was Patience—her arc in becoming the Magdalena. We decided to focus the movie on her. It’s the transfer of power from her mother’s reign as the Magdalena to hers.
Brix goes on to reveal that she hasn’t even actually started writing the script yet, as her deal is still being worked out. Yet they have their lead actors cast (Luke Goss being the other one)… Odd. To read the whole interview, head on over HERE.
