Some more news coming from the AFM. Magnet, the genre child of Magnolia Pictures, is picking stuff up left and right. First up is SPLINTER. The synopsis reads: Trapped in an isolated gas station by a veracious Splinter parasite that transforms its still living victims into deadly hosts, a young couple and an escaped convict must find a way to work together to survive this primal terror.
It’s directed by Toby Wilkins (THE GRUDGE 3) and written by Wilkins, Kai Barry, and Ian Shorr. It stars Shea Whigham, Paulo Costanzo, Jill Wagner (below), Charles Baker, Rachel Kerbs, and Laurel Whitsett. The first still from the flick can be found above. Eamonn Bowles, Magnolia Pictures President, had the following to say: “With its taut, terrific script and Toby Wilkins’ directorial and special effects talents, Splinter has a great shot at being a truly iconic horror film.” Whoa. I understand that they’re trying to push the flick, but those are some damn strong words. It definately catches my attention.
