Main cast of True Detective season 2 confirmed including Taylor Kitsch

After months of rumors, we now have the full lead cast confirmed for the highly anticipated second season of TRUE DETECTIVE. Following in the big shoes of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey will be the already announced Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell who are now formally joined by Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly, and Taylor Kitsch.

The second season of HBO's anthology series will take a different tone and approach to the critically lauded debut series directed by Cary Fukunaga which many hailed as one of the best series of 2014. The second season, now filming in California, has a lot to live up to. Here's the synopsis.

Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

FAST AND FURIOUS 6 director Justin Lin will helm the first two episodes. It is still unknown who will direct the remaining 6 for the season. HBO provided a rundown of the main cast and brief summaries for each of their characters which you can read below.

TRUE DETECTIVE's second season will air in 2015 on HBO.

Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.

Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.

Kelly Reilly as Jordan, Frank Semyon’s wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.
