Make-up effects wiz Wayne Toth signs on to Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem

A brief update here regarding Rob Zombie’s LORDS OF SALEM project, but one that might well appeal to the special effects make-up fiends out there.

Via Rob Zombie’s Twitter feed we learn that the director is reuniting with his HALLOWEEN and HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES make-up designer Wayne Toth for the film, about some wicked witches descending upon Salem, Massachusetts. Toth, who frequently collaborates with gore kings Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger, also teamed with Zombie on his GRINDHOUSE “trailer”, “Werewolf Women of the SS”.

Zombie naturally wasn’t exactly forthcoming with any info as to what they’re cooking up, simply tweeting “Working on SFX design with Wayne Toth for The Lords Of Salem.”

LORDS OF SALEM, in Zombie’s own words, is about the following: “There were twenty people that everyone knows about – obviously all innocent – executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem’s descendants. That’s when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong…”
