Make your own mini-figure character over at the new Lego Movie website

A good family movie should be one that appeals to both children and adults. You cannot have a film that is insipidly stupid and boring for grown-ups in the same way that you cannot have one that is over the heads of little kids. Just because it is aimed at kids doesn’t mean it needs to pander to them. Pixar has done a good job of this and Dreamworks has followed suit. Next is Warner Bros with THE LEGO MOVIE.

Anyone who played with Legos as a kid knows them well. The building blocks have created multiple franchises using things like DC, Marvel, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, and tons of other known series. Now, they are trying to build a big screen one of their own with their first theatrical film. A cool new website has popped up to promote the film and inevitable tie-in toys and games and it allows you to not only build your own mini-figure but it also provides a code that will allow you to re-edit it at a later time and even potentially download it in a future Lego video game.

An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together.

THE LEGO MOVIE features the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Jonah Hill, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Channing Tatum. From CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS and 21 JUMP STREET directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, THE LEGO MOVIE looks like a ton of fun for all ages when it hits theaters on February 7, 2014.
